After a pretty expensive week (see Lark Crash) I decided to have a go at a new SPAD to cheer myself up. I had a look at Dave McD's PBF and thought that it looked simplicity itself to make and a blast to fly judging by the links to various videos on his site. All in all it took me about 3 hours to make, although you could probably get that down to about 1 1/2 hours if you had all the bits to hand and were in a hurry. This thing is so simple to make, I will let the pictures speak for them selves and just add notes, If you have any questions pop over to the forum and post them in there. The plans below are not my work, they are by a guy by the name of Dave McD, I have reproduced them here to avoid any bandwidth problems with his site. I recommend that you go and visit Dave's site and take advantage of his much greater experience with this type of model, what you read on this site is only my own experience so far.............. |

So how does it fly ?
Well, hard to explain really, it's certainly true to the "Avoiding the Ground" type of SPAD flight, the best way I can describe the airframe is as a set of controls to allow you to steer the engine around the sky, best read this section before you build one. |

MC's
PBF Video
This Video is an excellent
example of the sort of flying characteristics you can expect from a PBF
and also gives you a good idea of the elevator/throttle technique, it's also got
a good soundtrack ;-) |
